Position SummaryThe electronics engineer’s key responsibilities are to design, develop, modify, and evaluate electronic parts, components, or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment and other hardware systems.  The electronics engineer determines design approaches and parameters, analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests, and evaluates results.  This position is also responsible for selecting components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.  This position reports to the electronics supervisor.(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.)· Designs and implements electronic assemblies and subsystems for data acquisition, communications, power, and control.· Develops prototype hardware, firmware, and test software for qualifying designs.· Produces and documents requirements, design documentation, and test plans.· Executes qualification tests.· Designs and implements electronic test fixtures (including software) to support production of electronic components· Interfaces with outside vendors on outsourced projects. Works with PCB houses to ensure that prototype designs transition to production with high quality and reliability.· Participates in engineering design and documentation reviews.Minimum Requirements· Five (5) or more years of professional experience in the following areas: High-speed digital design experience using microcontrollers, embedded firmware development skills, and mixed analog and digital design experience.· BS degree in electrical engineering.· Five (5) or more years of professional direct design experience in at least one of these areas: communication, data acquisition, or motion control.· Proficiency with design engineering software tools for schematic capture and PC board layout software.· Five (5) or more years of professional design experience with interfaces such as: I2C, SPI, RS232/485, and Ethernet.· Direct experience working with PCB fabrication and assembly houses to take PCB designs from prototype to production.· The ability to travel to customer sites (including offshore) for up to two week time periods to support integration and test activities.Preferred· PC software development skills.· High-power electrical design experience.· Fiber optics experience.· Programmable logic experience.· Experience designing systems for harsh industrial or offshore environments.· Systems engineering and requirements management experience.
