We are in search of a motivated individual that has a solid foundation of electrical engineering through on the job training in industrial and commercial facility design and is willing to work and continue learning in a team environment. Using both on the job training and selected in-house training courses you will continue to develop your overall skills to advance your career. You will be working on small projects as the electrical lead and on specific tasks or areas of larger projects under the direction of a senior engineer. At CDM you will have the opportunity to develop business skills by assisting in the development of proposals, meeting clients and overseeing engineering budgets, technical skills through design and training courses and constructability skills through field observation and design/build tasks.
Our Electrical Practice is eighty-five plus members strong, located in twelve offices across the globe. Our domestic electrical groups are located in: Albany, NY; Cambridge, MA; Chicago, IL; Columbus, OH; Dallas, TX; Irvine, CA; Orlando, FL; Phoenix, AZ; Pittsburgh, PA; St. Paul, MN; and Walnut Creek, CA. Job Description: This mid-level electrical engineering position requires the successful candidate to perform activities of a limited scope, based on principles and techniques commonly employed in electrical engineering design or by the successful completion of a Doctorate degree. You will be introduced to project management techniques and to the CDM management system to broaden your understanding of multi discipline design concepts in preparation of advancement to the next level.
Job Requirements: 3-5 years of experience since B.S. (Power Engineering Option Preferred)Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power Point)May be required to either manage tasks on large projects or manage phases of small projectsDeveloping external client interaction and marketing skills Certification as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) by successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Examination is required.May be required to supervise or coordinate the work of CADD Operators, technicians and others assisting in specific assignmentsExperience in the design of water and wastewater treatment facilities or industrial facilities is preferred.Proficiency with SKM Power*Tools or other electrical system analysis software is preferredCandidate must have excellent writing and communication skills.Assist senior staff in the selection and specification of various electrical system components including motor control centers, switchgear, transformers, etc.Determine code require working clearances around electrical equipment.Assist senior staff in the development of the Engineer’s opinion of probable construction cost estimates Assist senior staff in the development of sales proposals. Attend client meetings for the purpose of defining the project scope during a proposal phase and review design development documents during project execution.
Additional Job Details: Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:Performing electrical calculations for electrical systems using electrical systems analysis software.Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code is desired.Performing design tasks of building related electrical systems including lighting, communications, fire alarm, security systems and power distribution systems.Developing of electrical plans and specifications for small projects with minimal supervision.Perform site investigations to confirm and/or identify existing conditions for use in the development of electrical design documents.Coordinating with the client, utilities and Fire Marshal Reviewing shop drawings and assist with general construction services.Performing short circuit, protective relay coordination and arc flash studies using power analysis software.Performing limited AutoCAD tasks for electrical design drawings.
