Electrical Design Engineer - Spectrum Design Solutions

Spectrum Design Solutions, a Digi International Company is an engineering consulting firm with a focus on solving customer's wireless development challenges.  We are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer interested in working on a variety of applications for a wide range of customers.  This position is located in the Warehouse District of downtown Minneapolis.

 

Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position is the development of digital design solutions for customer applications.  The engineer will be responsible for all aspects of the development cycle including requirements development, architecture development, RTL coding, synthesis, simulation, implementation, verification test, and design verification documentation.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Develop product requirements based on customer supplied inputs and other domain knowledge. Develop the architectural solution to guide the development process. Lead and participate in architecture reviews. Development of RTL for the target logic device in the specified language. Lead and participate in code reviews. Perform synthesis and simulation of designs. Perform verification test through the development of test benches. Hardware verification test and documentation in the selected device.  Assist in electronics hardware development, device modeling, schematic capture, layout and system test as required.

Requirements: 5+ years experience with particular requirements as follows: Expertise in either VHDL or Verilog development languages.Expertise in simulation, synthesis, and placement software tools such as ModelSim, Synplicity, Xilinx ISE and/or Altera Quartus development tool sets.Expertise in laboratory debug techniques using digital scopes and logic analyzers.Familiarity with C/C++ and Matlab/Simulink is a plus.BS or MS Degree in Electrical Engineering or EE-based Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university. Areas of desired expertise include Forward Error Correction (FEC), modulation, demodulation, digital filters, high-speed scrial interfaces, and/or other industry standard interfaces (e.g. 10/100/1000 Ethernet, SPI, UART, SDRAM, DDR).
