SUMMARY: Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of environmental engineering to the completion of challenging assignments. Performs civil and environmental projects in accordance with RCRA, CERCLA, UST, CWA and other appropriate state and federal regulations. Will perform project tasks involving site investigation, evaluation of remedial technologies (including innovative technologies), engineering design, and remediation operations on environmental projects. Performs field assessment and remediation activities as directed by supervisor.    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as determined appropriate by the supervisor based on level of experience.   ·  Perform and manage project tasks in the public and private sector. Participate in functions involving contact with client representative. Work/coordinate with project team personnel. Perform technical functions on projects and possibly direct the technical efforts of more junior project team members on environmental, engineering and construction projects. ·  Preparation and review of engineering documents (e.g., RAP, FS, CMS). ·  Knowledgeable with in situ and ex situ treatment processes for soil, groundwater and related waste streams. ·  Prepare proposals, subcontracts, work plans, engineering designs and reports. ·  Supervise and coordinate the work of junior level staff on projects as appropriate. Provide technical direction and guidance to CADD operators, designers, technicians and field personnel. ·  Assist in and lead efforts in preparing remedial action plans, feasibility studies, corrective measure studies, remedial designs, and other engineering documents. ·  Complete data evaluation and remedy selection for UST, CERCLA and RCRA sites. Potential to participate in technical and sales presentations to clients.    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.   EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Civil/Environmental Engineering/Chemical Engineering or a related area; a minimum of 5 to 8 years of related engineering experience. Advanced degree preferred. Engineer-in-Training certificate or Professional engineering license is desired. Direct experience in preparation of FSs/CMSs/Remedial Designs is also desirable.   OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet softwares required; knowledge of computer-based engineering design software desirable. Must be able to work effectively with other technical professionals.   PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB: Assisting field investigation and construction oversight activities could potentially require the following: Performing strenuous fieldwork under a variety of site and weather conditions; Standing, crouching and sitting to facilitate operation of the equipment and collecting samples; moving earth via shovels or hand augers; lifting of pumps, other remediation equipment, cases containing equipment, sample coolers and other items weighing between 1 and 50 pounds; and potential exposure to natural (e.g., poison ivy) and chemical hazards. Since some projects are located in Florida, heat is often times an issue. Ability to perform and maintain rigorous detailed documentation of field activities.   LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, research, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical documents and procedures, and government regulations. Ability to write detailed reports, business correspondence, and procedures suitable for client submittal. Ability to effectively present information, communicate, and respond to questions from groups of coworkers, clients, customers, and the general public. Effective communication skills, both orally and in written form.   REASONING ABILITY: Ability to evaluate and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.   CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or professional engineer’s (PE) certification desirable. OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and current 8-hour refresher training is also preferred.
