ELECTRICAL CONTROLS ENGINEER
IC Engineering one of the Bay Areas’ fastest growing A&E Firms, is looking for Electrical Engineers and Electrical Designers to work with our project teams to deliver ready for construction plans for our various client we serve.
We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to support our Electrical Engineering Controls group. The Electrical Engineer will be developing electrical and electro-mechanical controls for laboratory and process equipment. The successful candidate will be able to design control systems and control panels, program SCADA, PLC and HMI. He/she will identify controls criteria and create control algorithms and specifications for machine operation/performance specifications for petrochemical and other projects. Their work will include designing, engineering, reviewing, coordinating, programming and approving electrical engineering activities for facility needs to include construction, maintenance and repair. He/she will work with other engineering disciplines to establish scope, schedule and budgets. He/she will also direct the preparation of sketches, preliminary drawings, schematic designs, program designs and construction documents. Work is project-orientated and he/she may be working on a number of projects, all at various different stages, at any given time. He/she may be asked to conduct field surveys to investigate existing equipment layouts and conditions, analyze system needs, make calculations and determine requirements.
Duties:
Provide electrical controls support for routine daily operation of various control systems.Prepare work scope, cost estimates, schedules, material specs, sketches, construction work packages, and other required documentation for controls systems development.Troubleshooting of design and programming equipment for petrochemical process units to include Allen-Bradley, Siemens, TI, Opto22HMIs that include PanelView, Wonderware, IFIX.Understanding of communications networks RS232, 485, 422, DeviceNet, Ethernet and ControlNet.Answer technical inquiries, make technical recommendations, improve design tools, and develop design procedures.Carry out studies to improve process safety, reliability, and economics.Provide design review and evaluation of electrical controls portion of major capital projects.Document and manage information related to electrical control systems & equipment.Ensure all work is performed in accordance with applicable Environmental, Health, Safety, and Building codes as required by Federal, State and Local regulations.Working closely with other engineering disciplines to monitor and improve the efficiency, output and safety of a plant.Interpreting data from the other technical and operating staff and incorporating that data into the process design.
Job Requirements:Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skillsWork as a team player and willing to share knowledgeControl Systems/Software DesignTechnical SkillsProficient using AutoCAD software in the design of process systems, versions 2000 thru 2008Perform calculations to size components per applicable codesKnowledge of NFPA 79, NEC and UL508A

· BSEE or Associates Degree preferred3-5+ years experience in electrical controls/electronics engineering plus manufacturing experience and history of managing plant/process improvement projects Working for an A&E or Design Build company involved in designing & constructing heavy industrial plants (power plants, refineries, chemical process plants, etc.)Experience with chemical process, refinery, or petrochemical plant projects
