Director of Corporate Engineering and Projects
Our client is a global leader in nutrition-based food ingredients and food products, and is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. The company is experiencing over 30% annual growth in revenues, and the company stock value could grow 3X-5X over the next 5 years, as a result of this growth. Over the last 12 months alone, the company has completed construction and start-up of 2 new production plants, with several additional new plants and capital projects in the works. Primary markets served include high-value nutritional food ingredients, protein isolates (for meat additives, sports drinks & and snacks), as well heart-healthy edible oils. Their technology platform is packed with protein, vitamins, phytonutrients, and more than 120 antioxidants. Major customers include select Fortune-500 food/CPG product companies, organic oriented grocery chains, and nutraceutical suppliers.
Job Description:
The Director of Corporate Engineering and Projects will be responsible for managing and directing the company’s engineering and project management team. The position will lead the company’s new plant and new project design, build, and start-up efforts, and subsequent ongoing engineering support. The position will report directly to the company’s COO, and will be based in their Phoenix corporate headquarters. This is a newly created position for the company.
Key Responsibilities:
· Build, direct, and lead the company’s Engineering and Project Management Team.
· Interface on a regular basis with other key members of the company’s management team in new project conceptualization, budget and capital cost estimates, time-line planning, etc. Work with outside engineering EPC firms, and related suppliers in conducting the bidding and RFP process.
· Support individual plants and plant managers in process improvements, debottlenecking, equipment failures, and related support efforts.
· Work along-side other team members and engineering staff in a hands on “coach-player” role.
Experience Required:
· Minimum of 10 years experience in process engineering and/or project management, preferably in a food/food ingredient processing environment.
· Minimum of 3 years in an engineering management/leadership position with oversight of an engineering/project management staff.
· Experience working in a wet and/or dry processing arena with preferable direct experience in operations support and project management positions.
· High level of competency on work at all levels and areas of the company.
· Proven ability to work well in a team-driven company environment. Highly skilled in relationship development, verbal and written communication skills.

Minimum Education Level:
· BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related area. M.S. degree in Engineering or a MBA would be a strong plus.
