Chevron North America Exploration and Production is accepting online applications for the position of Development Geologist - Cook Inlet Asset located in Anchorage, Alaska USA.Overview:The Development Geologist is involved in all aspects of the maintenance and development of oil and gas fields within the Cook Inlet basin. The position is challenging from a technical perspective combining interpretation of well logs, stratigraphy, and structure and reservoir performance. The geologist plays a critical role in the integration of this work for building and maintaining 3D earth models used in reservoir simulation and well planning. Proactive value driven action balanced with rigorous technical evaluation and risk management is critical to success. A challenging stratigraphic, structural and business environment exposes the individual to a unique yet valuable work experience which can be applied anywhere in the world. Individuals in this position will gain understanding of well design and drilling operations as well as experience working and communicating effectively in a multifunctional work group.Qualifications:Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to: Planning and supporting a 3 to 5 year redevelopment drilling program. Assist in reservoir management tasks including simulations. Identify opportunities and develop the best methods of extracting value from mature fields in close coordination with the geophysicists, reservoir and drilling engineers. Perform reservoir and project risk assessments and assist with decision and economic analysis. Focus on the business drivers including project economics and field economics.Required Qualifications: BS degree in Geology, Earth Science or related discipline. Expertise in development geology, sub-surface analysis, concepts and work processes. An ability to integrate well log, production data and seismic data to evaluate reservoirs in integrated analysis for field development plans and well locations. Well planning and well site operations experience (mud logging, well logging and formation testing requirements) for new wells (including lateral / horizontal), sidetracks / re-drills, workovers and reservoir surveillance programs. Adept at volumetric, reserve and risk assessment through economic evaluation. Experience in terrestrial fluvial systems with ability to correlate and interpret well logs for potential. Experience in structural geology with an ability to apply structural concepts (including balanced cross sections, dip meter analysis) and their application in the field development. Proven ability to work with in a cross-functional team to perform detailed subsurface assessments, reservoir management plans, development proposals, economic evaluations and well site operations. Desire and ability to rapidly learn and develop proficiency in critical technical areas such as structural geology, petrophysics and reservoir management. Utilization of workstation standard applications such as LandMark (eg.Openworks, Stratworks, Seisworks, Petrel, Arc GIS) and Microsoft Office (Excel, and Power Point). Personal flexibility to work an irregular work schedule (tied to drilling operations). Travel as necessary to operational locations on an infrequent basis for 1-4 days duration as appropriate.Preferred Qualifications: MS degree.
