Position Description:Chevron Corporation is one of the world’s leading energy companies. Chevron Latin America and Africa Exploration and Production (CALAEP) is accepting online applications for the position of Development Earth Scientist located in Houston, Texas.Overview:Based in Houston, Texas, CALAEP is engaged in some of Chevron's most innovative and challenging projects. The position will be part of the Southern Africa Strategic Business Unit (SASBU) that works on all assets and potential assets in the Business Unit's domain. The team works on everything from the assessment of new exploration ventures in the southern half of Africa to reservoir management support for producing assets in Angola, Congo and DRC.This is a hands-on field development earth science position focused on reservoir characterization and earth model building in support of the identification, maturation and execution of improved oil recovery in SASBU Greenfield Projects.Qualifications:Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to: Perform reservoir characterization and mapping. Work with multidisciplinary teams in Houston and Luanda to meet work plan commitments. Perform horizontal well planning. Monitor develop plans and identify additional opportunities for infills, sidetracks, and new horizons. Perform seismic interpretations. Enhance subsurface decision through application of Chevron’s Project Management Process and tools subsurface decision analysis. Construct earth models using Gocad.Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Earth Science or related discipline. Experience with integrated subsurface approach to production geology, development geology and development drilling. Basic knowledge of shallow marine stratigraphy. Understanding of reservoir engineering principals. Experience with OIP validation, simulation for future horizontal wells, reserve estimation, and well planningPreferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Earth Science or related discipline. Experience with seismic interpretation, reservoir correlation and mapping.
