HNTB?s talented and dedicated professionals provide design and planning expertise that exceeds expectations. We are seeking candidates for a Engineering Department Manager in our Boston, MA office. This person will be responsible for direction and supervision of a large professional or technical group. Department revenue usually is in excess of $1.5 million per year. Coordinates project priorities, staffing schedules, and staff assignments to ensure clients are provided the best design capabilities to meet their needs. Responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and maintenance of design engineering programs and efficient, productive utilization of staff in providing high-quality service. Coordinate activities of engineering department or section.Assign priorities and staff to jobs.Coordinate time and budget on jobs.Client contact.Quality control.QualificationsAt least 15 years of technical experience in bridge design and inspection, and experience in tunnels would be a plus.This position will be responsible for direction and supervision of the structural engineering group located in HNTB?s Boston office. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelors degree in structural engineering plus a minimum of 15 years of professional technical and managerial experience. The position will serve as the primary client contact for multiple projects, coordinating priorities, staffing schedules and assignments to ensure clients are provided the best design capabilities to meet their needs. Responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and maintenance of design engineering programs and efficient, productive utilization of staff in providing high-quality service. Responsible for management of operating and marketing budgets, and goal setting estimate fees, determine scope of work, prepare proposals and contracts on large or multiple projects. Responsible for the hiring, supervision, development and evaluation of structural section members. Participates on national, divisional, and local projects. Works collaboratively with division structural engineering staff and other structural practice centers around the firm on large, complex projects. The successful candidate will possess technical experience in bridge design and inspection, and experience in tunnels would be a big plus. Strong organizational skills, and knowledge of business operations are highly desirable, in addition candidate must be able to successfully grow the practice.
