DATA MANAGER



 

Position Summary

Responsible for aspects of MARAD Ready Reserve Force configuration and inventory data management and analysis, associated with contract deliverables and initiatives. Analyzes raw data for accuracy and relevance (specialized and relational database management); prepares meaningful and usable reports; writes and uses utilities both in commercial database applications and company developed software.  Creates and updates reports/tables/databases and performs data quality assurance on generated results. Installs and trains on shipboard logistics software, and provides technical logistics services as required.  Performs analysis of existing procedures, processes, techniques, and/or systems related to data management; provides reports and recommended solutions; and develops and implements those solutions.  Occasional travel involved.

 

Functional RequirementsA mechanical/engineering background.  Maritime/shipboard engineering experience desired.Computer proficiency in MS Office business applications, especially Excel and Access; required. Experience using ABS ship management software, SafeNet, or NS5, a definite plus. An intermediate level ability in MS Access 2000 and later versions.  Primary emphasis will be on data manipulation and report generation, but development would be a definite plus. Experience in other database applications also a plus. Experience in business process review, quality assurance, sampling, and analysis desirable.Must be comfortable with multi-tasking and a rapid-paced work environment.Experience in training, barcoding, inventory management and technical research techniques a plus.

 

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/engineering or a related field. 

 

Minimum Experience

Four (4) years of applicable experience. Maritime/shipboard engineering experience desired.
