Data Acquisition Engineer


Description:
Manifest is currently seeking Data Acquisition Engineer’s for positions in Columbus, Ohio. These candidates must have Transport or wireless background and project management experience. Resources will work with electric utility Telecommunications Engineering staff based in Columbus, OH, to support the planning, designing, engineering, and implementation of communications media for SCADA Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) facilities in utility sites across a seven-state service area (Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Virginia, and West Virginia).

Responsibilities:
Track and update electric utility generation, transmission and distribution project information, including scope, key personnel contact information, accounting data, and schedule data
Identify, document, and support telecommunications tasks for utility projects
Perform analysis and initiate requests to determine appropriate media (telco, radio, fiber) for telecommunications service into utility sites
Initiate requests and/or perform path studies to determine feasibility of radio connectivity into utility sites
Specify and procure telecommunications materials per standard designs, including outdoor enclosures, communication and power cable, terminal blocks, power supplies, loopback equipment, and ground potential rise isolation equipment
Collect, validate, and record location information, including 911address, latitude/longitude, and driving directions
Identify specific utility sites across the four-state area and work with Common Carrier Group to identify the telephone companies serving those locations
Coordinate the documentation of SCADA installations with Graphics and Documentation Group
Coordinate with field personnel to commission telecommunications media into utility sites

Required Skills:
Possess a general working knowledge of telecommunications media, specifically telco (telephone company 4-wire and 2-wire leased services), radio (Multiple Address Radio System, Microwave, Trunked Radio System) and fiber optics
Possess suitable interpersonal skills – work with planners, project coordinators, engineers, inspectors, field operations supervisors, field technicians, and external providers
Possess proficient PC skills – including database input, spreadsheets and email
Possess a general working knowledge of SCADA systems and RTU equipment
Provide technical and administrative support for telecommunications service agreements, including technical information for agreement creation and resolution of invoicing and accounting issues

Desired Skills:
Knowledge in electric utility industry is a plus
