Construction Manager I

HSMM in Hickory, NC is in search of a Construction Manager to: Develop procedures for monitoring the progression of the construction phase of projects Manage and lead the overall project including technical, financial, and client satisfaction Accountable for the development, coordination, and execution of the planning, design and/or construction management activities and personnel under his/her direction on a day-to-day basis Monitor project and staff to ensure that projects are progressing according to established procedures Meets with project designers and contractors to ensure that procedures are followed Prepares reports for company management and client indicating procedure adherence and project progress Oversee periodic inspection of construction activities and compiles non-compliance reports as appropriate Oversee that contractors are in compliance with project plans and specifications Monitor quality of work done by contractors and quality of materials used on-site Evaluate progress of project to determine if time schedules are being met Administer information document flow from and to contractor and ensures timely appropriate responses and actions accordingly Administer change order process and claims process with contractor and ensures sound contract management practices are employed Strive to ensure project time and cost objectives are met Conduct weekly construction meetings Oversee implementation of project and Company safety procedures Implement and follow Company Quality Management System procedures Job Requirements: Excellent supervisory skills Strong organizational and management skills Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communications skills Strong technical skills Exceptional knowledge of construction ways, means, method and sequences Knowledge of computer systems and their applications Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Responsive to changing demands Strong leadership skills Good team-building skills Forward thinking Employs flexibility of methods Strong initiative Ability to work under pressure Registration as a Professional engineer and/or certification as a Construction Manager preferred. At least 13 years of related experience including 2 years in a supervisory role. EEOD/V/M/FConstruction experience.
