Claims and Member Services Representative
CLAIMS AND MEMBER SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE, MIT Medical (part-time, 20 hrs/wk.), to advise and assist MIT health plan members with coverage questions and claims problems and process claims and referrals. Will respond to requests from Medical Department staff, maintain the inpatient database, and enter referrals in BC/BS POS referral system. Will work cooperatively as a team member in a close physical space and with other members of the Medical Department staff. Position involves extensive customer service contact in person and by telephone.
REQUIREMENTS: a high school diploma, two years' relevant customer service experience, familiarity with medical terminology, demonstrated computer experience, and competency in a customer service setting. Familiarity with or ability to quickly learn IDX, Word, and Excel necessary. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment processing claims for payment while answering complex questions in person and over the telephone for a variety of insurance plans. Willingness to keep current on policy changes and technology expected. Some college experience preferred. MIT-00005773-5 Schedule to be determined. 8/20/08
