Chemical Engineer - 111056

We are seeking a Chemical Engineer to be the primary technical interface to development, manufacturing, and suppliers for various materials used in CPD Inkjet supplies.
Duties include:
· Skills in the areas of heat and mass transfer, fluid dynamics, kinetics, thermodynamics, and chemistry.
· Develops and designs mix processes and equipment involving chemical engineering unit operations. Develops and characterizes ink formulations.
· Develops ink making processes and analytical techniques. Creates fluidic, thermal and other physical models of inkjet printing processes.
· Supports and optimizes existing and new imaging products, raw materials, and components and related manufacturing techniques.
· Provides environmental and safety engineering support for worldwide logistics and manufacturing operations.
· Primary technical interface to Development, Manufacturing, and Suppliers for various materials used in CPD Inkjet Supplies.
· Primary materials assigned will include colorants and other chemicals used in Lexmark ink formulations.
· Responsibilities include assuring quality, cost, and reliable delivery by working with suppliers and Lexmark teams to qualify changes to materials and to resolve issues.
· These components require some knowledge or background in the manufacturing processes of commercial materials/chemicals, and some of the analytical testing used in the chemical industry.
· Duties may include research, evaluation, development, and application of new processes, assembly equipment, components, and packaging related to chemicals and inks.
· Primary role is interfacing with development on new ink formulations, scaling new inks to manufacturing, releasing and changing specifications, allocating equipment needed for production at manufacturing locations, monitoring quality control of inks during production, and performing qualifications for any changes to inks in production.
· Evaluating new analytical equipment and processes and implementing into production.
· Engineer will work with various corporate and manufacturing site organizations to ensure that proper testing is conducted and manufacturing process is capable.
· When product issues occur, engineer will be the key technical liaison between various corporate engineering, development, and manufacturing teams.
· Engineer will be expected to organize teams and to investigate and efficiently resolve issues.
· Must function in a team environment, and communicate effectively.
Desired Qualifications:
· The minimum requirement is a BS degree in Chemical Engineering.
· Professional attitude and initiative for anticipating and solving technical problems are a must. Project management tools should be used to effectively organize, plan, communicate, and complete activities.
· Candidate should have 1 - 3 years of experience in chemical related field.
· Good communications skills and desire to function in a teamwork environment is critical.
Travel: Position will require some travel, including international travel. Both domestic and international travel may require being resident at these locations for several days at a time. Average travel will range from 5 – 10%.
