Headquartered in San Ramon, California, and conducting business in approximately 180 countries, the company is engaged in every aspect of the oil and natural gas industry, including exploration and production; refining; marketing and transportation; chemicals manufacturing and sales; and power generation.Chevron Project Resources Company is currently searching for domestic and globally mobile Construction Managers to be a critical member of the project team reporting to the Project Manager. Chevron has a number of international and domestic onshore and offshore (Upstream and Downstream) major capital project opportunities. The capital cost of the projects ranges from $200MM to over $5.0 billion. Many of the project teams are located at our offices in downtown Houston, but some are co-located in contractor’s offices throughout the greater Houston area or at other domestic and international sites. The positions will involve both domestic and international travel, including travel during weekends, and will likely involve relocation to domestic or international fabrication and installation sites. Typical work locations may include Gulf Coast of the USA (Houston TX, Pascagoula MS), El Segundo CA, Richmond CA, Salt Lake City UT, China, Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, London, West Africa (Nigeria, Angola), Kazakhstan, Middle East, Korea and Japan as well as possible other locations. Qualifications:Key Responsibilities:•Plan, organize and coordinate the activities of multidiscipline owner and contractor construction teams during front end engineering and design (FEED) and detailed design efforts, particularly related to constructability, fabrication, construction/installation and commissioning/start-up. May involve single or multiple contracts at single or multiple sites.•Responsible for Incident and Injury Free (IIF)safe work coordination during fabrication, installation and hookup and commissioning (client’s role) in a medium-to-large EPC contract. Interface with Procurement and Suppliers on deployment of IIF and ensuring Company requirements are met.•Interface with other Chevron entities, for example, Business Unit Operations, Drilling groups, etc., and coordinate the plan for commissioning/startup and handover.•Responsible for all or a significant portion of site activities on a project of significant scope and complexity. Includes construction, HSE, infrastructure operations, material management, security, transportation / logistics, completion activities, quality control and field engineering, and interface with base operations. •Develop and implement staffing plans for field personnel (inspectors, office admin., engineers, etc.). Supervise one or more company construction managers, lead functional positions and contract personnel. •Mentor national employees and develop plans for training.•Develop and manage ownership of construction-related portions of project execution plans focused on providing an optimally designed, safe and easily maintainable facility. Supervise the site construction and inspection teams. Lead efforts around functional objectives from an Operations Assurance point of view.•Responsible for multiple construction contracts. Some contracts are of low-to-medium complexity and others are of high complexity with potential risk to Company and OPCO. •Responsible for supporting all contract negotiations and amendments with subject matter expertise. Develop or assure that construction office procedures and field procedures are developed and in place to protect Company assets. •Supervise cost and schedule control processes and reporting, including management of change, in all construction/fabrication locations with the ability to resolve conflicts in a timely manner.•Other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:•High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is preferred.•In lieu of degree, 15-20 years direct experience in construction management on large (>$150MM) oil and gas capital projects and experience must include lead roles for oil company or major EPC contractor•Minimum of 10 years direct experience in construction management on large (>$150 MM) oil and gas capital projects. •Experience in a Lead role for Oil Company or major EPC contractor.•Candidate must be willing to relocate resident status potentially during several phases of the project depending on contractor selection and their respective operating sites.•Foreign service experience is highly desirable for international assignments.•Must be flexible and goal-oriented, and have strong personal skills, a professional demeanor and the ability to work independently.•Proven knowledge of successful construction management practices on Major Capital Projects.•Experience developing/managing large CAPEX projects (domestic or international) with multi-discipline construction team, including Joint Venture partners and secondees.•This is a Safety Sensitive position. Experience developing strong safety programs (integrating contractor's individual safety programs) based around commitment to Incident & Injury Free (IIF) performance is required.•Ability to administer multiple field construction contracts in terms of both cost & schedule.•Demonstrated knowledge of phase gate Project and Construction Management principles.•Strong written and verbal communication skills.•Knowledge of Operations Assurance Processes with particular emphasis on equipment reliability, design & implementation, Completion & Acceptance Procedures, and Commissioning & Startup. •A large percentage of the scope of work for downstream projects involves the revamping and upgrading of existing refinery facilities.
