CRANE MANUFACTURING MANAGER

GENERAL

The Crane Manufacturing Manager, as a member of the Technical Group, is the primary contact for all technical, commercial and sales issues relating to the Crane Manufacturing business area.

 

The Crane Manufacturing Manager supervises all personnel with direct responsibility for Crane Manufacturing activity.

 

It is mandatory for the incumbent to be familiar with the requirements of the Quality Management System and to take an active part in the compliance and improvement of the Company’s Quality Programme. The adherence to the Company’s Quality Procedures and allied systems is required to maintain quality standards to API Q1.

 

The incumbent must be fully conversant with the requirements of the Company’s Safety Policy and take an active part in the compliance and improvement of the Safety Management System, ensuring that the health and safety arrangements are being effectively applied by all subordinates.

 

The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that subordinates are helped to perform their jobs effectively and have the learning opportunities through which their abilities and potential can be developed.

Crane Manufacturing Manager

Project Engineer

Graduate Engineer

Production Supervisor

 

The incumbent must adopt a cooperative attitude towards being assigned alternative or additional duties to those for which they are primarily employed.

 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Administration

 

Manage personnel involved in Crane Manufacturing activity.

 

Responsible for the coordination, planning, prioritization and execution of Crane Manufacturing activities in accordance with Company procedures and guidelines



 

Accountable for Crane Manufacturing systems, records and registers, to include:

 

Ensuring Engineering Folder / File Management

  Maintaining Crane Manufacturing Quote Log

  Maintaining Crane Manufacturing Production Plan

Monitoring and Reporting of Project Time-Writing

 

Responsible for the compilation, control and execution of the Crane Manufacturing business area budget



 

Responsible for the recruitment, training, appraisal and discipline of Crane Manufacturing personnel

 

Responsible for maintaining suitable records of all activities under direct responsibility

 

Main Processes



 

Responsible for the development and execution of Crane Manufacturing systems and methods.



 

Responsible for business area development, through direct client contact and meetings, with particular focus on target customers as defined within the business plan.

 

Accountable for implementing Crane Quote Processing, to include:

  Bid Planning

  RFQ Technical Review

  RFQ Commercial Review

  Production of Execution Plan

  Estimating

  CMS Production

  Quote Formatting and Collation

Submission Review and Approval

 

Accountable for implementing Crane Production activities, to include:

  Contract Review

  Financial Control

  Project Planning

Design (to include compilation of Design Data Books comprising engineering calculations, drawings etc.)

Procurement (to include preparation of project Release Logs)

  Crane Fabrication

  Crane Assembly

  Crane Testing

Workpack Preparation and Review (to include engineering procedures, risk assessments, construction and commissioning checksheets etc.)

  Crane Installation and Commissioning

Invoicing

Project Close-Out

 In this instance success is measured by attainment of the Business Plan Revenue and Profit and the delivery of projects to Safety and Quality standards.



Responsible for progressing Crane Manufacturing activities to meet project milestones.

 

Responsible for ensuring project elements are checked and reviewed according to QA procedures.



 

Communication



 

In line with Company systems, the position requires the organization of activity reviews based on project plans and subsequent prioritization and the conducting of weekly review meetings.

 

Conduct internal meetings to progress ongoing, urgent or overdue issues.

 

Liaison with VP, Projects & Technology and Team Leaders to ensure projects are progressing satisfactorily and milestones are met.

 

Liaison with clients, sub-contractors, suppliers and company staff as required

 

Responsible for the development and delivery of appropriate project reportage to reflect project reportage and the strategic development of the Crane Manufacturing team.

 

Contribute to the sales effort through direct client contact and meetings, with focus on target customers as defined within the Technical Group Business Plan.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

1.  Engineering Degree, Qualified in Structural, Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

2.  Minimum of 8 - 10 years experience in Project Management / Project Engineering in crane manufacturing industry (or similar)

3.  Knowledge of relevant engineering standards (API, AISC, ASTM, AWS, SAE)

4.  Strong leadership skills

5.  Excellent communication skills – written and verbal

6.  Good computer skills

7.  Ability to perform tasks independently, with minimum supervision, as well as within a team environment

8.  Ability to multi-task and effectively manage work across multiple projects.
