CAD Drafter

Tetra Tech’s Surface Water Group (SWG) has an opening for an experienced CAD drafter in our Portland, OR office. The SWG is an award-winning group of hydraulic and civil engineers, biologists, and geomorphologists who use cutting edge science and the latest methods to prepare stream restoration plans, hydraulic models, dam removal plans, and geomorphic assessments. Join this dynamic group and work on some of the most exciting water resources projects in the Pacific Northwest, California, and the Southwest. Responsibilities – This is primarily a drafting position, and the applicant will lead CAD efforts for an environmental engineering office. Applicants will be expected to produce plan sets suitable for inclusion in bid documents, generate or measure quantities for cost estimates, develop CAD standards, oversee and correct CAD products prepared by other staff, mentor other staff in CAD applications, and assist engineering staff in preparing designs. Typical projects involve grading, hydraulic control structures, revegetation, and other features related to river and wetland restoration. Position may also include field duties if desired, such as river transect surveys, discharge measurements, topographic surveys, and GPS inventories/surveys. Job Requirements: A BS or BA degree in engineering or a CAD certificate from an accredited institution. Minimum 3-5 years progressive experience in CAD and ability to utilize GIS-based source data. Proficiency in both AutoCAD and MicroStation is preferred. Experience in LDD, InRoads, Civil 3-D, or other civil design and terrain modeling software is desirable, experience generating or measuring quantities for cost estimates preferred. Knowledge of Excel and other MS Office applications desired. Additional experience with ESRI Arc-GIS software is desirable. Some experience as an engineering or field technician is also highly desirable. Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record, with ability to operate 2wd/4wd vehicles as well as a small survey boat.
