Wherever the location or whatever the field conditions may be – whether at sea, in open country, the mountains, the jungle or in the desert – our engineers and technicians apply the skills and expertise acquired from their work in the field and Sercel’s commitment to R&D to constantly push the limits of seismic acquisition. Buyer III In this position, you will use your expertise to obtain materials and services at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, delivery and reliability of source; expedite delivery where necessary; obtain engineering approval for alternate methods or materials if delivery is not available when required; advise other departments of any changes in price or procedure, and of restrictions on materials, which would prohibit purchase; quotation or proposal analyses, supplier selection, negotiation and preparation of appropriate documentation, and administration of the Sercel-Supplier relationship including Change Orders reflecting revision of material, quantity, and delivery requirements, pricing adjustments, and correction of incorrect material receipts or service performance; maintain well documented Purchase Orders and related purchasing records; negotiate vendor rejections and advise vendor of reasons for rejections and cost incurred as a result of defective material; conduct business internally and externally with the highest professional and ethical standards; cooperate with other departments to ensure smooth flow of materials and services and verification of compliance with all contractual conditions prior to invoice payment and use good judgment in consulting with superior on all matters regarding uncertainty for the proper application of company policy or department procedures, regardless of dollar value. Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field (C.P.M. certificate or equivalent preferred) and a minimum of 10 years experience in procurement support for electronic, cable, machined equipment or seismic exploration operations, as well as two (2) years in contract or purchase agreement administration and negotiations. Additional requirements include working knowledge of standard terms and condition of purchase; familiarity with legal aspects of purchasing, inventory control methods and cost/price analysis; effective verbal and written communication skills; Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook knowledge; capability to handle multiple significant projects concurrently; MRP concepts knowledge; analytical skills, both quantitatively and subjectively and a high degree of problem solving ability. Detailed specific commodity or service knowledge may be required; Commercial Truck part knowledge a plus. Sercel offers outstanding benefits and competitive compensation.
