Associate Application Engineer (Metalworking Application Support)

Associate Application Engineer (Metalworking Application Support)  Evening Hours1.      Provides telephone application information support to customers, Telemarketing, Engineering, Product Marketing, Corporate Technology, and the Sales representatives of all Kennametal Inc. metalworking market channels. Handles client calls to the application department. Ensures client inquiries are responded to by the appropriate CAS staff. Logs client problems in the application database. Identifies monitors and reports the nature of client and product problems and maintains a plan for problem resolution. Assigns appropriate engineering, marketing or manufacturing resources, vendors to ensure the problem is resolved to the client satisfaction.2.      Works variable hours as necessary due to departmental requirement to be open and available for service 24 hours, 5 days a week.3.      Communicates the disposition of client problems and solutions to appropriate sales and CSS team members.4.      Implements quarterly plans, to support customers, Telemarketing, Product Marketing, and Sales Representatives of all Kennametal Inc. market channels.5.      Reports on individual contribution to department goals, service levels, and measurement standards.6.      Writes application bulletins and success stories as assigned.7.      Gathers market intelligence and reports on it on a timely basis.8.      On site product testing and demonstration as assigned.9.      Responsible for the entry of machining information and tool performance reports into a database.10. Works with Staff and Senior Application Engineers and Application Specialists in the development of training programs.
Experience and Skills:


  A Bachelor of Science.-Mechanical Engineering, completed machinist or tool & die apprentice program or other relevant engineering degree is preferred; however, a suitable combination of training and educational programs is acceptable. 2 to 4 years Kennametal sales, engineering, customer service center CSR or marketing experience is required. Strong telephone communication skills are required. Strong PC skills as well as knowledge of SAP and other related inventory and application computer systems is strongly preferred. Ability to function as a problem owner for the majority of day-to-day application and product problems. Ability to initiate and track problem assignments to technical engineering and marketing resources, vendors, etc. Ability to initiate escalation as appropriate.
