Assistant Design Manager-NY/BHm/001

We are looking for an Assistant Design Manager to join Buro Happold group in our New York office. A background in Architectural Engineering or Construction Management background is preferable.

Job Purpose:

The role involves working alongside the Design Manager in assisting Project Leaders in the management of the Design Process. The purpose of the role is to support the Design Manager in reducing the amount of time Project Leaders spend on managing and coordinating the Design Process.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in Engineering (BEng)

or       

Construction Management plus 3-5 years relevant work experience, preferably in New York.

 

Requirements:

·   Relevant NY industry experience preferable - New York City agency experience

·   A licensed Engineer or working towards licensing would be an advantage, though not essential

·   Confident, proactive character, with the ability to take the lead in challenging situations.

·   Experience of working on a one to one basis and in team working situations

·   Ability to prioritize effectively and work to deadlines

·   General administrative skills

·   Good computer and IT skills including spreadsheets and databases

·   Good communication skills

·   Sense of humor!

 

Administration and Coordination

·   Coordinating meetings for the discussion of multiple and single projects. ·  Communicating with Design Manager on Co-ordination of Meetings

·  Good communication skills

 

Communication

·         The communication of information in:

         o        Group Meetings

         o        Discipline Meetings

         o        Management Meetings

·         Assist in the organization of meetings in conjunction with the Design Manager

·         Compilation/production of slides/agenda

·         Organization of compilation/production of slides/agenda

·         Organization of production of information/materials as appropriate

Finance

The management of Finance within the position will involve working closely with Assistant Regional Accountant and the Finance Coordinator

 

·         Monthly Operating Plans (MOP) – Working with Project Leaders on MOP’s and ensuring that forecasted workload is completed to deadlines and that they have administrative support and resources to complete this

·         Fees – Ensuring that projects are keeping up with invoicing schedules and fee letters

·         Credit Control – Assist in communicating with clients when invoices are not paid

·         Annual Budgets – Assist in providing background data when setting up annual budgets and ensure that projects are being funded within the budget

·         Resource Schedules – Production and Maintenance of project schedules
