ArcGIS Test Engineer
Provide ArcGIS testing expertise for the USDA Forest Service QA Test Lab. This position will be located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The purpose of this position is to provide manual and automated test plans on all ArcGIS¬related application testing on operating systems used across the Forest Service - both desktop and server-based systems. The test engineer must have expert knowledge of deploying and administering ArcGIS Suite of tools. System Administration level experience and database administration (MS SQL server and Oracle), systems hardware and software integration are required. Contractor must have an excellent working knowledge of database development tools, structured query language, database application analysis and design techniques, requirements and methods. Contractor must possess extensive technical and practical knowledge of software development and testing lifecycles. Contractor must have test engineering experience and an understanding of testing principles. In addition, the contractor must have programming and scripting (any of Perl, VBScript, UNIX Shell scripting, Java, JavaScript, C++) experience. Contractor must have strong analytical, diagnostic and troubleshooting skills. Contractor must have unique skills in test design, bug reporting and problem isolation. Contractor must be able to write test plans, create test plans, customize and use advanced testing tools, including Test Partner or Rational products. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS • Install and test systems updates and application release notices and other Forest Service Nationally and regionally released software products, such as the Forest Service Information Architect components, in the QA Test Lab. • Provide day-to-day technical support as it relates to ArcGIS Suite of tools. • Perform ArcGIS maintenance, backup, and recovery as needed in the QA Test lab. • Troubleshoots ArcGIS system or application problems. Assists in troubleshooting complicated software problems. Participate with beta tests of ArcGIS software releases and bug fixes. Assist application developers prepare application installation packages for ArcGIS related applications. Assist with architecture changes/design implementation.
Prefer BS degree Information Technology or Engineering; Extensive experience may substitute for education.
5-7+ years experience deploying and administering ArcGIS Suite of tools and 3-5 years test engineering experience.
Work 40 hours per week, present during the USDA Forest Service core hours. Initial task from date of award thru Sep 30, 2008. Certified Test Engineer a plus.
