Responsible for design of manufacturing processes, layouts of manufacturing plants, tools, jigs, and assembly lines. Develops new ways to manufacture components, parts, or sub assemblies for lower cost or faster delivery of products. Under general supervision, independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. Assignments are generally well defined with clear and specified objectives. With additional experience within one area, assists in the design of larger and more complex assignments which involve conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, and/or equipment with relatively few complex features for which there are precedents. Assignments usually include one or more of the following: equipment design and development, test of materials, preparation of specifications, process study, research investigations, report preparation, and other activities of limited scope. Typical requirements include an undergraduate degree in Engineering and minimum of 2 years experience, with typical experience ranging from 3-7 years. Certification as a Licensed/Chartered Professional Engineer is preferred.
