Tax Accountant - Sales and Use Tax

We have partnered with a multi-billion dollar energy company to recruit for a strong Sales and Use Tax Accountant.  This is an outstanding company with an excellent reputation and work environment.  Essential Responsibilities: Conduct, prepare and coordinate the filing of excise tax, sales and use tax for filing with various federal, state and local taxing jurisdictions and outside consultants. Work with other departments to ensure the correct application of all excise/sales and use taxes, and compliance with current tax laws. Retrieve, record, and retain financial information and prepare payment requests for all excise/sales and use taxes. Communicate with taxing jurisdictions and respond to questions raised with respect to state excise and sales/use taxes. Reconcile tax general ledger accounts and assist Accounting department in development of tax accruals, entries and adjustments. Obtain, review, and maintain tax exemption certifications from customers on a daily basis for federal and state excise taxes and sale/use taxes. Requirements: Bachelors degree in accounting, advanced degrees are a plus Minimum of 3 years experience in federal and or state tax 2 years tax reporting Energy experience is a plus, Compensation: Very competitive compensation package plus potential bonus  - commensurate with experience Full offering of healthcare benefits  Built on more than 30 years of expertise, The Mergis Group is a specialty recruiting firm committed to helping professionals make the best career choices.
