Sr. Staff Accountant-Income Tax

   Location:       Whippany, NJ 07981   Status:      Full Time, Employee    Experience:       5+ to 7 Years   Career Level:      Experienced (Non-Manager)    Education:       Bachelor's Degree Suburban currently has an opportunity for a Sr. Staff Accountant - Income Tax who is responsible for the preparation of the state & local income/franchise tax returns, current and deferred tax accruals, financial statement reporting for income tax (including corporate tax provision analysis under FAS109, 10Q and 10K, tax footnotes, and effective tax rate analysis), FIN 48 implementation and support, and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley as it relates to income tax.  In this position you will utilize business, accounting and tax knowledge with accumulated experience to make independent decisions regarding income taxes. This position works under the general direction of the Director and Managing Director of Tax Accounting.   Primary Accountabilities:   Preparation of calendar year GAAP financials (Suburban fiscal year ends September 30th). Preparation of tax audit workpapers. Calculation of permanent and temporary differences between GAAP income and taxable income. Preparation of financials for tax by taxable entity. Analyze corporate tax provision requirements under FAS 109. Preparation of current and deferred tax accruals. Maintain and track federal and state NOLs. Create effective tax rate analyses. Implementation and support of FIN 48. Compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley 404 as it relates to income taxes.     Education, Certifications, Specialized Training: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent in experience. At least three years experience with income/franchise taxes is required.  Five years experience preferred.   Functional/Technical Knowledge: Experience with income tax preparation software is required (GoSystem or Insource preferred). Proficient PC skills utilizing MS Excel, Word and Outlook are required. Familiarity with tax research software required (CCH preferred). Behavioral Skills:   Ability to work well under pressure, “owning” the processes worked on and adhering to strict reporting deadlines. Ability to adapt quickly while maintaining overall productivity. Effectively communicate both internally and externally, to enhance the tax group’s overall performance. Independently interpret the potential affects of future management plans and events, especially as to how they could potentially affect taxable income. Effectively manage large, complex projects. Ability to provide expert level problem solving and analysis to all issues regarding income taxes including analysis, preparation and accounting for income taxes. Accuracy and timeliness in the preparation of income taxes is paramount.
