Sr. Industrial Electrical Engineer
Bloom Energy,a fuel cell company and one of Silicon Valley’smost promising startups, is lookingfor a Sr. Electrical Engineer to join its world class team. The ideal candidate willhave a background in the energy/power or the oil & gas industry experienceand a background working with PLC controls,automation or industrial controls.
As part of the ManufacturingEngineering team you will be responsible for transferring new products andtechnologies from product development to manufacturing. Responsibilities will include developing costeffective methods for testing fuel cell systems and subsystems, troubleshootingsystems and electrical components, sustaining support to manufacturing,transfer of design to manufacturing, and engineering support for vendormanagement. You will work directly with the Product Development and Manufacturinggroups to ensure new product introduction success.
Job Responsibilities: Develop, document, source and implement system and sub-assembly test stands (hardware, software, and related manufacturing documentation) for systems with electrical components (high voltage components, inverters, PCBs, connectors, etc.), and mechanical components (sensors, pumps, blowers, valves, mass-flow controllers, and piping). Work with the product development to ensure design for testability Develop, and/or work with suppliers to generate test requirements, test fixtures and test software Analyze manufacturing test processes for cost reduction opportunities Provide detailed equipment specification to ensure that all equipment developed/purchased outside is adequately supported and appropriately documented Develop supporting manufacturing documentation (interconnect wiring diagrams/schematics, theory of operations, test procedures, troubleshooting guide, test reports, statistical reports, etc.) Train manufacturing personnel on test process, test equipment, and test software Support failure analysis of electrical components and provide preventative or corrective action Provide sustaining support to manufacturing
Essential Skills and Experience:
The following skills are essential in order to besuccessful in this position: BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, or related technical degree required with 7 years work experience Experience in one or more of the following fields: oil & gas, energy & power, pharmaceutical production, chemical processing, large capital equipment or related industry 5+ years experience supporting Manufacturing NPI, and sustaining engineering functions – work in automation, experience in PLC control, industrial controls preferred Experienced in development, or engineering support of system and sub-system tests which include electro-mechanical assemblies (e.g.: mass & air flow sensors, DC-DC converters) Knowledge in C/C++, PLC, Labview, or other general test/control SW is a plus Excellent hands-on bench/lab skills working with electrical components (PCB, high voltage components, wiring interconnects, and digital/analog I/O) and developing test fixtures Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to work independently in a fast paced start up environment Experience in troubleshooting, root cause analysis and corrective action Advanced computer skills including networking, and operating system configuration is a plus Knowledge of fuel cell systems is a plus but is not required
