Senior Thermal Hydraulic Engineer
Westinghouse Electric Company Nuclear Fuel, located in Columbia, South Carolina is seeking a Senior Thermal Hydraulic Engineer in its Fuel Product Methods Development department.In this position, a Senior Thermal Hydraulic Engineer can expect to perform the following duties:This position is responsible for performing nuclear thermal hydraulic analysis for Westinghouse PWR cores. The work will include performing 3-D computational fluid dynamic analyses (CFD) and heat transfer analyses to support evaluation of existing fuel products and the development and implementation of new fuel products. This position requires knowledge of using the CFD code STAR-CD. Knowledge of applying this CFD code for two-phase flow applications is preferred. The work will include evaluating hydraulic losses in the core, thermal analysis of core components, lift force analysis and providing support of qualification tests in the thermal hydraulic and heat transfer area. Responsibilities will include interaction with clients and other project team members to ensure adherence to technical quality, budgets, schedules and client satisfaction. Applicant will also interact with Mechanical Design area on various tasks so knowledge in Mechanical Design, reading drawings, use of 3-D solids modeling and using ANSYS is a plus.A successful candidate would have knowledge and experience in:Product Development Testing and Analysis (Mechanical and Thermal-Hydraulic Testing). This includes testing design and execution. Familiarity with electronics, sensors, solid modeling (SolidWorks/AutoCad) and programming with LabVIEW is preferred.A Bachelors degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineer with 2-6 years of relevent work experience.
