Think BHP Billiton.Further information about the BHP Billiton Group can be found at: http://www.bhpbilliton.com. POSITION SYNOPSIS Provide targeted, accurate and timely tax advise on US federal, international, and state tax issues to Corporate and Business Group customers and in support of Senior Tax Manager & Tax Counsel – US; Serve as a resource to the entire tax department for analysis of complex tax issues; Tax research, planning and quantitative and qualitative analysis to support initiatives to optimize tax outcomes including structuring, reorganizations, financing and dividend planning, considering both cash and book tax implications; Monitor and communicate U.S. legislative and regulatory developments, analyzing effects on BHP Billiton and develop and implement recommendations; Assist in developing and documenting tax return positions; Assist in defending tax positions on audit, including preparing IDR responses and protest positions to Appeals; Assist in preparation and review of tax returns, and the schedules, disclosure statements, and exhibits to those tax returns; Actively participate in Head of Tax Planning & Strategy initiatives Work on special projects and as necessary, perform other related duties of which the above are representative REQUIREMENTS Approximately 7 years practical experience in U.S. and international tax planning and analysis Proven expertise in U.S. federal, state and international tax including significant experience with complex consolidated return, partnership and financial product related issues. Ability and willingness to generate and work with quantitative analysis as well as legal analysis of tax matters. Ability to liaise and collaborate with legal, company secretariat, treasury and other corporate departments as well as operations and external advisors. Dynamic professional with excellent interpersonal skills, high work standards and initiative. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate in business friendly, understandable manner. Outstanding attention to detail. Perform well under pressure to achieve deadlines and successfully manage multiple projects. Self motivated but enjoys and thrives in a team-oriented environment. Resource industry experience a significant plus. BS/BA in finance, accounting or economics.
