Senior Software Developer - Applications

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS

The Junior Software Developer for Applications position is a software development opportunity for an enthusiastic and bright individual with limited professional software development experience to join our growing software team in San Francisco. This team is designing the next generation of commercial energy monitoring, management, and conservation tools using open-source web-based to prepare or inspect documents. No heavy lifting is expected. Exertion of up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally may be required. Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculator, copiers, and FAX machines.




ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Write computer software based on the design and mentorship of a team leader and senior developers. The software will involve both user interface and back-end layers.Evaluate software designs and identify individual tasks, providing implementation time estimates.Write and maintain unit tests for your own modules.Fix defects in your own modules.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

The position reports to a software team leader. The team leader or a senior developer will be appointed as a mentor for the applicant.

As a junior member of the team, this position will interact most heavily with senior developers, and to a lesser extent with product management, the QA team, and support personnel.




QUALIFICATIONS
Intelligence, strong technical intuition, willingness to learn, and a demonstrable diligence in all tasks.2 years academic or personal experience programming computer software, or professional technical experience closely related to software development.Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a team-friendly personality.BS in Computer Science or related field.

The ideal candidate will also meet these qualifications:
Experience with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Microsoft.NET, MySQL, and Microsoft SQL Server.Experience with writing unit tests or, even better, test-driven development.Enthusiasm for the business of solar electricity.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is based in San Francisco, CA. SunEdison's San Francisco office is located in the heart of the Financial District, within easy walking distance to BART and Muni. We offer a comprehensive benefits package with generous PTO and equity participation in a pre-public company.

While software development is principally performed in San Francisco, the company is headquartered in Beltsville, MD. This position may require occasional travel to Maryland and other SunEdison facilities.

The job is performed indoors in a traditional office setting. Activities include extended periods of sitting, occasional fast paced events and extensive work at a computer monitor and/or calculator.
