Job Status/Type: Full Time, Employee Industry: Energy and Utilities Reference Code: GOE08.0915 Occupations: Other Career Level: Experienced (Non-Manager) Work Experience: 5+ to 7 Years Education: Bachelor's Degree About the Opportunity The Sr. Safety Representative is responsible for the oversight and direction of the Toledo Edison's safety processes and initiatives. This entails but is not limited to: ensuring Toledo Edison's safety programs are consistent and align with Corporate safety programs and policies; identifying gaps and areas of improvement and driving that improvement; operational safety analysis; benchmarking best practices; supporting field operations in matters of compliance and safety; effectively communicating with the leadership team and employees on matters of safety. Principle Accountabilities: 1. Lead Toledo Edison's efforts to ensure safety and health policies, accident prevention handbook, standards, and regulations are applied consistently and adhered by all employees through monthly field audits. 2. Plan, conduct, and coordinate programs to promote knowledge of and conformity with health and safety issues and requirements. 3. Pursue continuous improvement by encouraging team involvement and the sharing of best practices to work efficiently and effectively. 4. Develop and implement new safety programs or practices to achieve optimal safety results for continuous improvement of safety performance. 5. Identify and implement processes to ensure random monitoring and/or inspections are done on equipment, structures, and work in progress to ensure regulatory and health standards of the organization and all applicable codes and standards are understood and followed. 6. Participate and facilitate in the investigation of injuries, conditions, and incidents that do or could involve actual or potential liability and ensure action plans are developed, communicated and followed to prevent recurrence. 7. Participate in sectional and monthly employee safety committee meetings throughout Toledo Edison. Coordinate the monthly Regional Safety Committee, provide necessary materials, and prepare minutes. 8. Provide safety training including, but not limited to: CPR, new hire orientation, Safety Root Map, and new safety programs and procedures. 9. Coordinate government-required safety training programs. 10. Coordinate industrial hygiene testing and share results. 11. Educate the workforce by researching and providing safety resources and materials. 12. Benchmark best practices of both internal and external organizations. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Industrial Safety, Business Management, Human Resources or equivalent experience; degree preferred. Certified Utility Safety Administrator (CUSA) or Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS). Demonstrated ability to lead continuous improvement and drive consistency across the company. Transmission & Distribution Operations experience, electrical and/or general industry experience, particularly experience working with bargaining units and skilled crafts. Demonstrated leadership that develops mutually respectful relationships externally and internally with employees at all levels preferred. Ability to build and maintain teams who are dedicated to safety as a culture. Strong analytical skills and an advanced knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations, industry consensus standards, and accident/incident prevention techniques. Accident investigation, crew inspection/safety audit, and root cause analysis experience. Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.
