Research and develop cutting-edge solutions to critical energy and environmental issues! Electric Power R&D Company Seeks Technical Leaders for Underground Distribution Research Projects(Palo Alto, CA; Charlotte, NC; Knoxville, TN) The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) is looking for project managers with technical experience to lead and manage major research projects in its Power Delivery & Utilization Sector. In this role, you will evaluate cutting-edge technology designed to improve the performance of underground distribution systems that will help shape the future of electricity.  In This PositionWorking at EPRI is truly a unique experience and EPRI Project Managers perform tasks outside of the “traditional” project management role. Along with your typical project management duties, you will: Manage all aspects of underground distribution research projects. Supervise contractors and staff. Oversee project financing and products. Lead meetings of funders, EPRI staff and external contractors. Document and communicate project results to participating members. Assure that all projects are completed on time and within budget. Participate in the broader research and development team that focuses on distribution assets. Identify areas of need or interest and develop and implement the appropriate solutions to meet those needs. Engage collaborative participation by utilities and other interested parties in current and future research and development. Enjoy broader and more diverse challenges than in a “traditional” project management role.

The Ideal CandidateHolds a master’s or advanced post graduate qualification in civil, electrical or mechanical engineering, or a related field. Has 10+ years of industry experience, including in-depth knowledge of: Underground distribution technology, including construction, inspection and assessment practices. The research and development process – on an individual and management level  Large-scale project management. Understands industry needs and can identify and implement research and development solutions. Is recognized as an expert in key areas of industry research and has authored related publications. Stays abreast of industry issues, practices and technologies. Has impeccable communication, writing and presentation skills.
