Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Westinghouse Electric Company Nuclear Fuel, located in Windsor, CT is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer.- Assume engineering responsibilities for design and installation of production systems required for use in commercial nuclear plants- Provide technical leadership in development and administration of new/improved processes and equipment in a commercial environment including gathering information to determine process needs, cost estimates and process equipment design, procurement, installation and startup - Prepare and review written technical procedures to guide manufacturing of product and operation of equipment- Develop welding techniques, procedures and application of welding equipment in the fabrication of nuclear grade components; provide technical advice concerning welding matters- Troubleshoot process interruptions/problems and recommend and implement resolutions including analysis and consideration of new innovations in materials, machinery, manufacturing and chemical processing techniques- Lead and/or support cost reduction projects across multiple functions- Address customer and regulatory requirements and concerns- Involves extensive interaction with product engineering, product assurance, manufacturing, and finance, as well as involvement with other employees and customers- Develop, propose and implement projects with defined time frames to meet the project scope, schedule and capital spending targets; design and execute capital project plans for cost effective manufacturing processes- Improve the safety, quality and productivity of manufacturing processes/equipment- Provide project leadership to work through others to a common goal while working across functional groups- Train employees as required in performing compliance with proceduresA successful candidate will possess and/or have knowledge of the following:- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; two to five years of engineering experience with at least one year in manufacturing is required- Familiarity with certain ASME code and industry requirements related to nuclear power equipment, systems, and operations is highly desirable.- Programming knowledge of Swiss, Miyano and Citizen machines is also highly desirable. - Demonstrated knowledge of resistance and Tig welding is a plus- Knowledge of six sigma and lean techniques desirable Westinghouse technology is the basis for nearly half of the world's nuclear power plants.
