Senior Fish and Aquatic Biologist
Primary responsibilities include: · Planning, coordination, and management of specific fishery and aquatic projects· Field staff management and logistics planning· Resource data compilation, statistical analysis, and data interpretation· Preparation of environmental impact assessments, license applications, and technical reports· Client briefings, resource agency consultation, and participation in public meetings Minimum qualifications include: · A Master’s Degree (B.S. with extensive experience will also qualify) in aquatic biology, fishery science, or closely related field· 10+ years professional experience in the design and implementation of fisheries studies such as stream habitat, instream flow/PHABSIM, fish population, radio telemetry, and benthic macroinvertebrate studies· Demonstrated ability to work with project teams, private clients, governmental agencies, and non-governmental stakeholder groups· Strong technical writing and oral communication skills; basic computer skills (Microsoft Office products); and some experience with computer modeling, GIS or statistical software· Must be willing to travel periodically The preferred applicant will have: · Familiarity with federal regulatory programs such as FERC hydro relicensing, NEPA, ESA, CWA, and California/local environmental regulations· Experience in the hydropower industry· Prior experience as a consultant, especially in California and the western U.S. Benefits: DTA offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, disability, life and business travel insurance; 401(K) with company matching, paid vacations and holidays as well as an Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
