Nearly 50 percent of the nuclear power plants in operation worldwide, and nearly 60 percent in the United States, are based on Westinghouse technology.We are currently seeking a Senior Acoustic and/or Structural Engineer in the BWR Advanced Acoustics and Structural Load Analysis group in Engineering Services within Westinghouse Electric Company. The BWR Advanced Acoustics and Structural Load Analysis group qualifies the steam dryers for plants. This qualification is for plants at their current licensed thermal power and for plants pursuing extended power uprates. The group performs acoustic and structural analyses as well as scales model testing to determine loads and corresponding stresses in the steam dryer.In this position, a Senior Acoustic and/or Structural Engineer can expect to perform the following duties:- Perform acoustic and structural analyses for the reactor internal components in Boiling Water Reactors. - Work individually and on teams to perform acoustic and structural modeling on steam dryers and other components within the reactor pressure vessel in Boiling Water Reactors (BWR).- Participate in leading or participating on a team to perform scale model acoustical testing.- Identify, investigate, oversee and advocate emerging technologies.- Provide technology insight to satisfy internal and external customer needs.- Active participation in industry groups.- Establish and maintain Westinghouse technical creditability to customer, industry and regulator.A successful candidate would be familiar with and/or have experience with the following:- Programming experience in FORTRAN is required.- Structural analysis knowledge using finite element analysis (FEA) methodology preferred.- Working knowledge of ANSYS and/or ANSYS Workbench software preferred.- Knowledge of ASME Code Section III and/or Section XI and BWRVIP guidelines preferred.- Experience in performing scale model acoustical testing preferred.- Experience in utilizing acoustic computer codes preferred. - Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.- Professional Engineer certification is a plus.
