The Database Specialist II analyzes, diagnoses, and resolves computing problems involving database systems (Sybase and/or SQL Server). ResponsibilitesMentor DBA's and support/advise them in their DBA duties. Will be required to participate in and provide for peer level training both with DBAs and application development teams. - Participate in all aspects of general computer controls, secure and regulatory compliant operation of IT resources. Specific areas require continuously auditing for compliance, including proficiency of backup/recovery, license management, and systems resources. - Communication with various vendors and customers. Must be able to work with application development groups to analyze code, monitor performance, and provide constructive recommendations which improve overall application performance and protection to the infrastructure. BA in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or equivalent computer related degree from an accredited college or university required. Consideration may be given to candidates with ten or more years related experience Six or more years of experience in database administration supporting Sybase, Sybase replication and SQL Server required. Three or more years experience in supporting a SQL Server data warehouse required. Experience in SQL, query, reporting, and OLAP tools also required. Experience in Hyperion/Essbase preferred. Must have ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements. Strong dimensional and relational data modeling and database design skills required.
