Responsibilities will include power performance calculations and supporting structural design trade studies. The position will also involve limited project management responsibilities for on-going blade validation and certification activities. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Responsible for aerodynamic analysis and design of new products, power performance predictions and support of product development goals in a cross-functional team environment. * Also, responsible for producing and maintaining power performance documents for current product line and future turbine configurations. Likely to be responsible for multiple projects concurrently. * Work closely with the testing organization to reconcile measured wind turbine performance with the predicted power and noise levels.* Support commercial/development groups in site-specific power performance predictions and site analysis.* Schedule aerodynamic performance design reviews as needed. * Provide cross-functional support as needed for tasks such as performing thermal analysis using CFD tools for mechanical and electrical system designs.* Keep abreast of changes in scientific knowledge and engineering technology, and utilize such changes in wind turbine aerodynamic design applications.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:* Advanced degree in Aerodynamics Engineering or in a closely related engineering discipline* High level of technical skills in numerical and analytical methods of predicting turbine performance using tools such as the blade element moment (BEM) theory code WT_PERF.* Experience in the use of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for predicting airfoil performance. * Experience with 3D modeling CAD software (Pro-Engineer preferred)* Excellent verbal and written communication skills* Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced team environment* Ability and willingness to support and track on-going blade validation and certification activities as needed.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:* Practical experience with Wind Turbine blade design and modeling.* Demonstrated engineering project management experience.WORKING CONDITIONS: * Moderate Noise (Example: business office with typewriters/printers, cubicle environment, light traffic) * Some support of power performance and other testing programs (up to 25% travel).NOTE: These statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work involved for this job.
