ACCOUNTABILITIES• Governance role to ensure maintenance and project work is carried out in accordance with the required technical standards, processes and procedures whilst operating in compliance with local legislation, BHPB’s Safety Case and Corporate standards. • Provide technical leadership to technician groups and foster effective relationships in completing assigned activities.• System Custodian for safety critical systems developing processes to provide assurance that performance standards are being achieved• Provide discipline input into monthly reliability and maintenance reporting, benchmarking equipment and system performance to identify reliability improvement projects as part of continuous improvement process• Develop and optimize predictive and preventive maintenance strategies for rotating equipment including management of condition based monitoring programmes • Complete and support troubleshooting on rotating equipment systems using recognized RCA tools• Sponsor of assigned contracts and development of vendor relationships to achieve improved equipment reliability and ensure BHPB receives value for money.• Provide discipline engineering input into multi-discipline engineering projects, both small and large, and support HAZOP and Hazard review processes. Develop and implement minor plant modifications for offshore and onshore sites in line with Management of Change procedure.• Participate in defining priorities in conjunction with the Lead Mechanical Engineer.Ensure costs are controlled and managed in order to achieve business goals by monitoring contract performance within the group and support the development of OPEX budgets.KEY DELIVERABLES / KEY DIMENSIONS• Visible HSEC leadership at site• Governance role for safety critical system assurance; adopting a risk based approach to system management• High level of competency in range of rotating equipment, recognised as the Technical Authority for rotating equipment for the GoM PU facilities• Strategic view and ability to use recognised tools; FMECA, RCM, RCA, CBM in support of continuous improvement to achieve maximum facilities uptime at lowest unit cost• Training and mentoring role for maintenance and operations personnel• Contractor and vendor managementBEHAVIOURAL & LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIESCharter values:• Safety and the environment• Integrity• High performance• Win-Win relationships• Courage to lead change• Respect for each otherLeadership Model:• Credibility• Action orientation• Communication• Collaboration• Accountability• Judgement ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe Rotating Equipment Engineer shall form part of the Mechanical Engineering function within the Surface Engineering Team supporting the Gulf of Mexico Production UnitThe position shall have responsibility for developing strategies, systems and processes to safely maximise uptime of all rotating equipment operated in the GoM PU facilities and shall support other mechanical engineering activities as required.AUTHORITY & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS• GoM PU Surface Engineering Team• GoM PU Operations team• BHPB Production Engineering, Rotating Equipment GPL• Support contractors and equipment vendors • Engineering contractor EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:• Ideally degree qualified in relevant engineering discipline.• Preferably Professional/Chartered engineer or actively working towards Professional/Chartered status.EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:Strong technical knowledge of rotating equipment and proven design, construction, commissioning and operational experience in preferably all of the following areas with good trouble shooting abilities:• Power generation turbines,• Rotating machinery, pumps ( centrifugal and reciprocating), gearboxes and associated systems,• Gas compression including turbo machinery and associated system equipment,• Utility systems including Air, Nitrogen and oil systems,• Equipment performance monitoring systemsExperience in the maintenance of associated equipment with Offshore and Onshore experience would be preferable.• 5 to 10 years experience in an applicable industry • Strong communications and influencing skills. • Knowledge of US and International equipment standards.• Knowledge of US Regulatory requirements.Languages: EnglishTHINK OF THE OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN BHP BILLITON.
