We currently have an opportunity for a Resident Field Engineer for Wind Farm construction projects. A BS degree in an engineering discipline and 10 years minimum related experience in design and field engineering required. PE registration is required. Multi-discipline construction experience is desirable. The position will require ability to think analytically, perform calculations and quantity take-offs, produce field generated drawings in CAD, interpret contract requirements including specifications and standards, inspect completed works for compliance to specifications and standards, and provide recommended solutions to problems encountered in the field during construction. Knowledge in current surveying and layout equipment and techniques will be required. The position will require supervision of a staff of field engineers, depending on project scope. Experience in managing staff is a plus. Additionally, the position will require interface with construction craft, superintendents, subcontractors, management, and design engineering staff. Strong interpersonal and communication skills will be required. The position requires the ability to understand the basis of the design and to use this knowledge to develop sound, engineering based solutions to problems encountered during field implementation of the design. The position will require liaison between the field construction forces and the engineer of record in the development of and processing of field change requests. The successful candidate will become familiar with project development including providing input on the project approach, developing work plans, subcontract management and procurement, and providing support in developing estimates. The successful candidate will become involved in scheduling and cost control, establishing a project baseline, change identification and management, subcontractor management, and project closeout.
