Research and develop cutting-edge solutions to critical energy and environmental issues! Electric Power R&D Company Seeks Technical Leader for Advanced Distribution Automation Projects (Knoxville, TN; Charlotte, NC or Palo Alto, CA) The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) is looking for a project manager with technical experience for the Advanced Distribution Automation (ADA) area of its Power Delivery & Utilization Sector. In this role, you will be responsible for the development of new activities in distribution automation and advanced distribution automation.In This PositionIn this role:Manage all technical and financial facets of Advanced Distribution Automation projects: Identify technical needs and initiate project/program. Develop project plans. Manage all tasks and resources Conduct process and procedure evaluations. Assure that all projects are completed on time and within budget. Organize technical support staff and contractors. Lead meetings of funders, EPRI staff and external contractors. Develop and communicate project results, industry guidelines and technical reports to staff and utility committees. Transfer knowledge and provide direct support to project sponsors. Seek to establish collaborative and/or jointly funded programs with the other major program sponsors in the field of ADA and the distribution system of the future. The five areas of development for ADA: New electrical and electronic technologies for ADA Communication systems for ADA Monitoring systems for ADA Distributed control systems for ADA New circuit configurations and reconfiguring capabilities for ADA The Ideal CandidateHolds a bachelor's or master's in electrical engineering or power System engineering, power electronics, or automation systems (desired) Professional engineer’s license (desired) Possess significant experience with distribution system design and operation and SCADA systems, outage management systems, automated operation of distribution circuit components e.g. breakers, reclosers, capacitor banks, and voltage regulators. Familiarity with substation automation Knowledge of emerging international standards for communication architecture to support open-systems based automation, legacy communication systems now in use and trends in communication systems and advanced metering infrastructure Hands-on experience with utility distribution automation, including traditional distribution automation and trends in advanced distribution automation Has impeccable communication, wiring and presentation skills. Demonstrates project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
