As a Project Manager you will manage electric line and substation projects, including new facilities, major additions, rehabilitation, and retrofit projects, develop and gain approval of scope, cost estimate, schedule, and resource plan. Mange all aspects of assigned complex, major project(s) of significant scope including:o Control of project scope, cost, and schedule parameters / risk management o Compliance with environmental, safety, and National Grid standards and policies o Acquisition of required permits, licenses, and land rights o Engineering and design deliverables o Contracted services, equipment, and material procurement and administration o Construction, interface with operations, and commissioning o Turnover and close activitiesIn addition to promoting a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and efficient resource utilization both throughout the department, project team(s), and project support groups including Engineering & Design departments, Operations, Asset Management, Supply Chain Management, Business and Commercial Services, and Administrative Service groups. Additional responsibilities include providing project management consulting and expertise for peers within the Engineering & Design groups, seeking and promoting “best practices” approach to project management within the team and work group.Job Qualifications: • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering with 8 years of professional experience, of which 3 years must be of project management experience or equivalent relevant experience. • Power delivery project management and engineering design experience desirable. • Professional Engineer registration and Project Management Institute's certification desirable. • Must demonstrate a high level of personal initiative and ability to interact with company personnel, contractors, regulatory representatives, and town/city officials in a positive collaborative manner. • Must possess excellent interpersonal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally to the organization; may include negotiation skills. • In-depth knowledge of power system operations, electrical and civil engineering, environmental, engineering economics, and familiarity with legal, purchasing, and utility accounting regulations. • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints. • Proficiency with PC software applications including the Microsoft Office Suite and Primavera. Ability to use enterprise scheduling, supply chain, and accounting midrange and mainframe based software applications used in the department.
