This is your opportunity to join our team and make your contributions in an industry that is rapidly changing.The Power Generation’s Project Management Department is responsible for managing major design/construction projects in PG&E’s hydroelectric power generation facilities. It is the largest privately-owned hydroelectric system in the nation.Position SummaryThe position, which will be represented by the Engineers and Scientists of California union, provides project oversight, control and analysis for the Power Generation Department’s major design/construct projects. Specific types of projects supported by these positions depend on need and the analyst’s technical background and experience. The position works with several project managers, business planners, engineers and other analysts, and offers a range of opportunities for interesting work.Responsibilities:• Project Planning: Develop work breakdown structures; Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules; and resource, cost and budget plans. Prepare project justification packages. Set up project accounting in SAP. • Project Monitoring and Analysis: Efficiently and accurately perform monitoring and analysis functions for the various projects. Work in collaboration with Project Managers and project teams to maintain project schedules and monitor cost status and forecasts. Perform SAP queries to extract financial performance data. Analyze and trend cost variances against authorized and budgeted costs. Alert team for corrective actions. Analyze actual charges to validate their correctness and appropriateness. Provide Project Manager and project team members with status information and milestones that will ensure timely decisions that will take advantage of changing circumstances and resource availability.• Project Reporting: Prepare project status reports, project database updates and various management communication reports (in coordination with Project Manager). Provide technical assistance to Project Managers. Record and distribute notes from project meetings. • Continuous Process Improvement: Look for opportunities to improve procedures and processes. Assist in maintaining and updating Project Management Guidelines. Maintain and update project status database and programmatic spreadsheets. Assist in updating Project Management website. Support attaining departmental objectives.• Safety: Work will all team members to assure all assigned task are performed with a focus on safety.QualificationsRequired:• BS in Engineering, construction management, finance, business or related field desired. • Advanced Excel Skills• Financial Analysis/Budget analysis backgroundDesired:• Construction or Engineering Project Analysis experience• Knowledge of SAPEqual Employment Opportunity, M/F/D/V.
