Research and develop cutting-edge solutions to critical energy and environmental issues! Electric Power R&D Company Seeks Engineer for Advanced Generation Demonstration Projects (Palo Alto, CA) The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) is looking for an engineer with technical abilities to support major demonstration projects in its Generation Sector. In this role, you will assist in development of industry technology demonstrations of advanced power generation and storage technologies including carbon capture and storage from integrated gasification combined cycle and pulverized coal power plants. In This Position Working at EPRI is truly a unique experience and EPRI engineers perform tasks outside of the “traditional” engineering role. Along with your typical engineering duties, you will:Follow up on current generation and storage technology development activities by U.S and International organizations such as DOE, EPA, National Labs, IEA etc. Advise and support Project, Program, and Area Managers. Help support all technical and financial facets of projects: Provide engineering support for all tasks (may include management/supervision of support staff) Conduct technical evaluations using process simulation software Assist in developing project plans Help assure that all projects are completed on time and within budget Assist selection and organization of technical support staff and contractors Participate in meetings with funders, EPRI staff, and external contractors Develop and communicate project results, industry guidelines, and technical reports to staff and utility committees Transfer knowledge and provide direct support to project sponsors. The Ideal Candidate Holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering with exposure to engineering economics (master’s degree preferred) Has zero to three years of experience, in a power or process engineering group with some experience in systems analysis Understands power generation and storage technologies and their economics. Has a working knowledge of advanced power systems, including integrated gasification combined cycle plants and advanced coal-fired generation Has impeccable communication, writing, and presentation skills Is willing to travel domestically.
