Job Title:         Power Plant Project Engineer

Description:  Power Plant Project Engineer for Renewable Energy Systems Americas, Inc. (RES-Americas), an expanding Renewable Energy company based in Colorado. Projects are developing - MUST be willing to travel.  Office location is Broomfield, Colorado. 

 

Purpose:  This position will be responsible for mechanical engineering and project management of the steam power plant used in conjunction with Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) projects.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1)  Engineering support to Development Team, especially during the planning and bidding of new projects.

2)  Fluid and Thermal system design of solar thermal power plants, including:

a. Steam turbine generator knowledge and selection of proper turbines for the application.

b.  Major thermal equipment used in large scale power plants.

c. Fluid systems design.

d.  Design and/or specification of: air to air and air to water heat exchangers, heat recovery systems, mechanical draft cooling towers, air cooled condensers, steam surface condensers, feed water heaters, deaerators, pressure vessels, fluid piping, pumping systems, ASME piping and pressure vessel codes.

3)  Strong knowledge on the integration of these components as they relate to conventional steam power plant design.

4)  Scope development/negotiating and management of A&E engineering services as required.

5)  Plant physical layout.

6)  Project Scheduling and reporting.

7)  Project management.

8)  Understanding of contract terms and ability to recognize discrepancies.

9)  Ability to meet project schedule, budget, and quality.

10)  Employees must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess an appropriate valid driver's license, possess personal insurance coverage, and have an acceptable driving record.

11)  Responsible to ensure SAFETY requirements must be met.

12)  Stay current with professional and industrial best practices.

13)  Must be able to work professionally with clients, vendors, employees, managers and supervisors.

14)   Regular attendance is an essential requirement of the job.

15)   Follow any other job-related duties/functions requested by the supervisor.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

1)  Minimum 7-10 yrs of proven steam power plant design experience that includes a proven track record of managing large capital-industrial construction projects.

2)  Experience in rotating machinery, heat exchangers, fluid systems and piping.

3)  Experience in General Arrangement drawings and P&ID’s.

4)  Ability to write clear technical specifications.

5)  Needs expertise and the necessary skills to interface with the Client and will be instrumental in delivering on time cost effective projects.  

6)  Working knowledge of CAD software – AutoCAD

7)  Ability to work effectively with development and construction groups to ensure that project delivery and quality goals are met.

8)  Ability to travel, 25-35%

9)  Registered Professional Engineer or working toward registration within 1 year.

10)  Minimum 2-5 years of Project Management experience.

11)  Skilled in MSOffice and Outlook.

 

EDUCATION:

BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.  MS Preferred.
