Outage Coordination Engineer
Provide engineering support and coordination for scheduled transmission and generation outages. Review and recommend responses based on anticipated and historical system conditions. Develop operating guidelines and procedures to provide appropriate responses to anticipated system conditions. • Provide engineering services for security coordination, and market functions. • Perform operating studies, investigations and prepare reports as necessary. • Evaluate and coordinate generation and transmission equipment outage requests. • Develop and coordinate Standing and Temporary operating procedures for both normal and abnormal conditions. • Evaluate transmission system security. • Evaluate transmission congestion and coordinate congestion management including generation redispatch. • Supports and serves on internal and external committees, task forces, and working groups. Education: • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology required. • NERC certification preferred. Experience: • One year in transmission system operations, planning or reliability coordination. • One year utilizing off-line power flow tools, EMS security applications, PSS/E preferred. Knowledge: • Principles, practices, and administration of technical issues. • Microsoft Office Suite. • Power system operation and planning. • Power flow and contingency analysis. • Power system stability. • Project management. Skills: • Commitment to customer service excellence and teamwork. • Excellent communication and listening skills. • Utilizing company policies appropriately. Abilities: • Apply and adapt practices and techniques to a variety of projects. • Establish and maintain effective relationships with employees and the general public. • Present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.
