OPERATOR (MULTI-SKILL)

Description:Operates and maintains 4 operating units generating 255 megawatts and associated generating equipment, GE Frame 7 Combustion Turbines, and associated plant facilities. Some of the outside duties require lifting loads, operating valves manually, climbing stairs, handling heavy tools and equipment, and other strenuous duties as assigned. Inside activities include using computer-based controls, charts and gauges, and other control equipment to remotely operate the generating units. This requires analytical and system comprehension skills. Employee will focus on learning and performing plant operator duties, beginning with outside duties and progressing to inside (Control Operator) duties. Employee will also be required to learn other skills as part of the multi-skilled program (I&C, electrical, mechanical, and chemical). Good knowledge of basic math, reading, and writing skills. Some computer skills will also be necessary. Prior power plant experience is preferred. I&C or electrical background also preferred. Must be willing to work a 12 hour rotating shift when in Production. Overtime is also required.

Qualifications:Successfully completion of the POSS / MASS test is required to be considered as a candidate. This is the Plant Operating Skills and Maintenance Abilities / Skills testing.--High School diploma, or GED equivalent required.--Prior power plant electrical, I&C, Operation experience preferred.--Good knowledge of basic math, reading, and writing skills required.--Ability to use all hand tools and other various tools.--Good communication skills, both written and verbal.--Basic computer skills.
