Job Description:

 

Maintain, troubleshoot, repair in a safe and efficient manner all equipment required for mining and plant operations.  Includes welding task as required and other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

 

Job Qualifications:

· Two (2) years heavy equipment maintenance experience or completion of a two (2) year associate degree in diesel or welding technology.

·  Able to operate oxygen/acetylene cutting torch and perform arc welding with low hydrogen electrodes.

·  Able to perform maintenance repairs, troubleshooting and lube servicing on large mining equipment such as Cat D-8, D-9, D-10, L&N tractors, Cat 637 scrapers, Cat 785, 789, 793 family of mechanical drive trucks and Cat 16G motor graders, Komatsu, HD 185 trucks.

·  Able to perform troubleshooting, tune-ups and servicing as well as repairs on Lister Diesel engines, Cat 3400 and 3500 series engines and Cummins K series engines.

·  Able to safely operate a steam cleaner or hot water pressure washer.

·  Able to change belts (fan, alternator, power steering) and adjust belt tension on Cat mining equipment to include trucks, dozers, scrapers, and blades.

·  Able to adjust tracks on Cat crawler tractors.

· Able to change oil, air and fuel filters on Cat mining equipment.

· Able to remove and replace batteries.

· Able to read and interpret Cat maintenance manuals and parts books.

· Able to read and use low voltage (24V) electrical, air and hydraulic schematics in performing repairs on Cat mining equipment.

· Able to rebuild air valves and perform adjustment on air system governors.

· Able to remove and replace the following types of components: radiators, hydraulic pumps and valves, water pumps, air valves, turbo charger and aftercoolers.

·  Able to remove, rebuild and install hydraulic cylinders on Cat mining equipment such as D-8, D-9, D-10, 16G, 637 scrapers and Cat haul trucks.

· Able to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime when required



The North Antelope Rochelle Mine (NARM) - the largest and most productive mine in North America - shipped a new industry record of 91.5 million tons of low-sulfur coal. Investments in a world-class dragline, blending technology and conveyor systems at the mine have driven productivity while reducing costs. Located 65 miles south of Gillette, the facility daily loads up to 5,900 railcars. Trainloads of coal shipped from the mine would stretch from Los Angeles to Boston and back again.
