Messaging Administrator

SUMMARY OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (OVERTIME, IRREGULAR HOURS, TRAVEL, ETC.): The messaging administrator is responsible for:

1) Configuring and maintaining a standard configuration across the messaging system

2) Responding to system monitors and alerts to ensure system availability

3) Resolving incidents and requests within the messaging queue

4) Additional responsibilities as needed to ensure continuing availability of the system; all are critical in this role to ensure system availability.

A key function of this position is documentation of the system along with knowledge transfer to other IT staff and the end user community.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Three (3) years of demonstrated technical experience in supporting enterprise email technologies (Exchange) in a medium size corporate environment.

Experience working with an enterprise messaging systems architecture and flow, as well as database maintenance for enterprise messaging system (Exchange experience preferred). 

Experience with message routing, client/server communications, and database

maintenance required.

Excellent trouble shooting skills required. 

Candidate should have strong communication skills, possess good documentation skills and have a strong desire to train others.

Knowledge of Exchange (2007 preferred) required

 

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:High level understanding of Exchange architecture and Powershell desired.

Experience with monitoring of enterprise messaging systems - BlackBerry Enterprise system and/or Windows mobile devices experience a plus.

MCSA:Messaging 2000 or 2003

OR

MCSE:Messaging 2000 or 2003

OR

MCTS Messaging preferred

ITIL - preferred

 

EDUCATION:Four year degree in Business, Computer Science or computer related discipline required

OR   

Certification - Enterprise level (e.g.: Microsoft MCSE & MCSA) - may be considered in lieu of education requirements.
