Mechanical Technician

What you should know about this opportunity: This is a full time direct opportunity in a combined cycle power facility outside of Independence, MO. Offers great company benefits. Relocation is NOT offered – either local candidates or candidates willing to relocate to this area on their own. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:  Accountable for mechanical system maintenance and operations relating to a combined cycle cogeneration facility. Responsible for management of assigned mechanical systems, pumping equipment, piping and control valves relating to the operation of the gas turbine, steam turbine, HRSG, and all associated plant auxiliary equipment. Will perform complex maintenance items which will include preparation of RFQs, bid specifications, planning, procurement of parts, inventory management and vendor correspondence and contractor supervision. Responsible for equipment preventive and predictive maintenance, and general housekeeping. Responsible for implementing and maintaining all measures which ensure the safety and security of the entire facility.  The successful candidate will have the following in order to qualify:  Minimum of five (5) years power plant maintenance experience. Knowledge of plant equipment and administration required. Background should include extensive utility or heavy industry power plant operating and maintenance experience. Must have an understanding and working knowledge of piping diagrams, vendor drawings, pump dynamics and curves, pump alignment, bearing replacement, and vendor technical manuals. In addition, demonstrated proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, and measurement instruments is required. Excellent communication and human relations skills are required. Proficient knowledge and use of computer spreadsheet, word processing, computerized maintenance management programs are a plus.
