Mechanical Engineer / designer
           Southampton Mfg., located in Ivyland PA, designs and builds a line of hydraulic and mechanical tools used in the electric utility industry. Our tools cut, crimp, and spear large and medium sized high voltage wires and connectors. We also produce a line of related tools used in installing all manner of electric transmission equipment. We’re a small company that’s a major player in the electric transmission industry. The national electric grid is expanding and projected to continue for the foreseeable future. Our company has a well established position in sales to that market and expects strong continued growth going forward.

We are seeking an experienced person to assist in the design and manufacture of our constantly expanding line as well as troubleshoot existing products. BSME or equivalent experience required. Ability to design machining fixtures and familiarity with machining processes and CNC programming is very helpful.

Applicant must have the ability to work well in a small team environment. Good organizational skills with BOM’s and part drawings are a key part of this position. Experience in Solid Works and some computer savvy are highly beneficial. Familiarity with casting, forging, heat treat, and finishing processes is required. Willingness to be become involved in all facets of progressive manufacturing such as production and assembly issues, customer relations, and business growth planning are an integral part of this position. Successful candidate will be comfortable in a fast paced machine shop environment and be willing to work an average 45 hour work week.
