Marketing Communications Consultant

Responsible for developing and implementing an effective marketing communications program to customers promoting energy efficiency programs and services across AEP's eleven state service area.

Principal Accountabilities:

1.Serve as a consultant responsible for the implementation of marketing strategy according to plans, including providing creative direction to internal and agency partners, overseeing graphic design, writing, editing, proofreading and other marketing communications functions to deliver marketing materials on time and on budget.

2.Design, develop and implement comprehensive marketing communications programs to explain energy efficiency and demand side management programs and initiatives to customers.

3.Work in conjunction with Corporate Communications to produce various energy efficiency-related messages through AEP Today, AEP Vision, AEP Now, company bulletin boards and other company-sponsored communications vehicles.

4.Act as a liaison between Consumer Technology & Programs and Corporate Communications, outside vendors in the development and production of various collateral materials, direct mail, etc.

5.Assist management and other employees with the development of electronic messages, slides, overheads, videos, handouts, talking points or other materials required to communicate key messages or initiatives to AEP senior management, employees, customers or other key clients.

6.Maintain awareness of major issues affecting the industry, the company, the department and communicate information internally, as appropriate.

7.Carry out, within the assigned area of responsibility, the Company's program of Equal Employment Opportunity, including its Affirmative Action obligations.

9.Promote and enforce the Company's Accident Prevention and Safety and Health Programs.

10.Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor or master degree in communications, marketing, journalism, business administration or equivalent education and/or experience. Minimum of five years' experience in communications and/or marketing. Must possess excellent organizational and communications skills, with extensive experience in writing, editing and producing communications materials. Demonstrate computer proficiency in word processing, desktop publishing, electronic communications and Internet applications preferred.

The individual in this position must be flexible, self-directed, and able to work with diverse segments of management and employees.
