Manager of North America Procurement - SF
POSITION TITLE:Manager of North America Procurement POSITION PURPOSE: Develop and implement procurement and contract strategies for acquisition of turbines and related equipment (transformers, towers, subcomponents, etc) as well as construction and related services contracts in support of the North American Management Team and future wind farm projects. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and maintain contacts and relationships with major equipment manufacturers and suppliers, including General Electric, Siemens, Mistsubishi, etc. and major contractors providing services to the wind industry. Obtain competitive bids for procurement of capital equipment, construction services and related contracts and lead the negotiations to assure the final contracts result in the least risk exposure to the company. Work closely with the construction and development teams on the analysis of various turbine procurement options for capital projects and assure procurement activities are performed consistent with established project schedules. Develop and implement a process for measuring vendors and contractors performance and monitoring risk exposure to the Company. Develop a consistent standard for “Contract Terms and Conditions” that includes meaningful penalties and liquidated damages for all procurement and construction contracts to assure timely and quality performance by contractors. Perform other procurement and contract related duties, as necessary, to support the projected growth in the North American Operations. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/ EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Ten (10) years experience in procurement and contract negotiations applicable to the construction of power generation facilities and/or transmission or electrical substations. 4 of the 10 years can be satisfied with a Bachelor Degree from an accredited institution in a related field. Two years experience in a leadership role in procurement. COMPETENCIES: Initiative – Act on issues affecting assigned responsibilities before they impact success of project. Able to analyze most situations and initiate recommended solutions with minimum supervision. Multifunctional Behavior – Must be capable of working and interacting harmoniously with various functional groups and individuals and maintaining effective communication throughout the organization. Interpersonal Skills – Excellent communication skills with a proven record of dealing and interacting with contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders. Skilled in human relations, conflict resolution and facilitation in a team environment. Technical/Functional Knowledge – Identify procurement issues and problems, secure relevant information and related data from different sources, consider alternative courses of action and draw valid conclusions. Flexibility – Able to make the necessary adjustments to plans and schedules to reflect latest requirements. Adjust and accept changes in direction, priorities and conditions whenever required to meet project goals and targets. Bias for Action – Demonstrates a sense of urgency when faced with important procurement issues that impact the timely and cost effective construction of wind farm projects.
